The Client
La Silla Vacía (LSV) is the third most important national media company in Colombia. Coming from a monolithic CMS, users were experiencing difficulties accessing content and data within the site, plus requiring technical knowledge to edit and manage content. Their platform was in dire need of content hierarchy, database normalization, and flexibility to achieve successful digital transformation with first-class technology at the core.
LSV needed to directly manage its stories in a user-friendly digital interface and expand their business into new verticals. Updating content was a nightmare without a digital ecosystem with the scalability they needed to freely expand and administer their content on their own on a daily basis. Before Expresia, LSV was facing compounding costs, multiple vendors and disjointed content updates.
In the path to become pioneers at the implementation of top-level digital journalism trends, La Silla Vacía required to amplify its business model to include new income sources and guarantee a genuinely mobile-first digital experience and its positioning as a social media outlet.

LSV achieved a strong digital presence with My Business, a key component of Expresia's platform that enables businesses to define their own workflows. This platform streamlines collaboration, editing, approvals, and publishing processes with a user-friendly interface that integrates Expresia's multimedia and headless CMS capabilities. My Business allows companies to customize digital processes via our API to meet specific operational demands.
Additionally, My Business simplifies training and daily tasks, presenting only essential information through its streamlined interface. Its modular flexibility allows for the integration of various components, such as customizable CMS, investor data, press releases, job postings, and more, creating a versatile ecosystem that enhances organizational efficiency.
Through My Business, LSV captured their intellectual property into a digital product that simplifies processes and becomes the operating system for their business daily activities, allowing them to write, compose and reference other content via Content Playlists in a familiar editing environment. Expresia gave them the flexibility and personalization they wouldn’t have achieved with other software.
Automation was key for this project. With over 30 cron jobs, Expresia continuously validates internal logic and processes, assessing the data and ensuring the optimal functioning of the ecosystem, granting editing and publishing credentials for a custom, friendly and easy workflow.
With an ecosystem that can develop and grow as the company evolves and introduces new products, functions, content and business goals without having to rebuild its digital platform, Expresia empowered La Silla Vacía to achieve digital transformation and became the central repository of the content and data, the digital gold nowadays, and not only for a journalism media.
