Robust content management platform delivers media to the masses
Summary
When you have something important to say, you need an effective vehicle to get your message out. This was the challenge for Mutante, an experimental digital journalism lab in Colombia that produces investigative reporting to incite social change. Mutante’s mission is to encourage social conversation among citizens about the most urgent problems in our society. As such, the Mutante team required a digital platform to strengthen their online positioning, and their communication and interactivity with their audiences. The subject matter they cover is serious and complex but their content platform had to be simple and easy to use. Mutante engaged Expresia to help them get their media to the masses.

Client information
Mutante is an independent journalism community that aims to understand, and improve upon, Colombia’s urgent issues through open dialogue. With a large number of journalists working collectively on a substantial amount of content, Mutante needed a platform that could host large amounts of information in an easy and manageable way.
Not only did the digital platform have to display and manage Mutante’s content, it also had to promote it by allowing users to acquire an online membership based on a monthly, quarterly or semi-annual subscription model.
Furthermore, the platform had to be responsive to the audience research process Mutante was developing. It also had to enable more efficient interaction and effective social conversations with its users.

Project
Expresia was able to tackle the challenge of building a digital platform capable of hosting the immense amount of content that Mutante produces. It gave Mutante a smooth integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud services platform that provides a variety of infrastructure services, such as databases, networks, storage, security, among others.
This digital ecosystem has a complex architecture that allows it to be scalable and fully customizable, allowing each member of the team to create and upload for specific topics and sections within the platform.

The Mutante team now has a comprehensive next-generation technology solution, fully manageable through Expresia and supported by AWS. This development platform allows the company to manage content and users in an accessible and intuitive way. Mutante can manage users in the backend of the system, limiting access to different sections of the website if required. And all of this content management is possible without requiring programming knowledge, so Mutante can focus on uncovering more pressing issues of the day.
